Simple Home Makeovers Spruce Up Any Space

DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen honors National Cleaning Week; offers tips on how to spiff up their homes

WACO, Texas - Thoughts of scrubbing baseboards and polishing floors often come to mind when people think of spring cleaning, but DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen locations are recommending that people rethink how they choose to spruce up their homes. The full-service interior remodeling company is honoring National Cleaning Week, held from March 23rd to 29th, by proving that any living space can be instantly refreshed with some basic remodeling alternatives.

"National Cleaning Week is an ideal time for people to restore their homes with a few simple tasks. Doing so can provide a breath of fresh air while simultaneously increasing the value of any home," said Doug Dwyer, president and CSO of DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen.

Dwyer suggests that people consider the following remodeling alternatives when contemplating ways to clean up their home's appearance:

  • Refacing – Outdated kitchens and baths can get a quick upgrade by simply refacing cabinet frames and adding new door fronts and drawers. As long as the existing framework is in working order, wood veneers or laminates can be added for enhanced functionality and style.
  • Lighting upgrades – Well-placed, quality lighting can improve the overall beauty of a home while it can also help hide flaws. Install multi-functional fixtures and dimmers to assist in accenting specific items and brightening dark corners.
  • Bathtub liners – Say goodbye to hard-to-clean grout lines with the installation of an acrylic tub liner. Typically done in one day, this upgrade instantly brightens the room and is easier to clean and maintain.
  • Hardware – Replacing hardware, including items such as cabinet and drawer pulls or towel bars, can provide a simple, immediate update to any kitchen or bath.

Dwyer says that while certain interior projects may not require professional assistance, some tasks do require the expertise of a skilled professional. Dwyer advises that all homeowners assess their budget, local permit requirements and necessary installation instructions before choosing to take on a job on their own.
